Judges - Joe Collins

21 years experience of working in the Media, both as an employee and as director of his own company. These include the BBC's 'See Hear', 'Sign On' at C4, Deaf Eagle in Bristol, the BDA's London Deaf Video Project as well as being a founder member and Co-Director of 'Deaf Owl' - the first-ever Deaf TV company in Britain.

Joe is a second generation Deaf BSL native user and holds the NVQ Level 4 certificate in British Sign Language. Now a consultant, he works with individuals and companies in the fields of Media and BSL training.

In April 2009, Joe was selected from over 40 people to be a participant of the prestigious Independent Theatre Council's GAIN Governance Training and Development programme which is sponsored by at least 6 organisations including the Arts Council.

Joe says "I'm a great believer in Deaf people achieving their ambitions. The media is a challenging field but if you go into it with an open mind and are willing to embrace new experiences, it will be a great adventure!"
