Tessa has been one of the best-known Deaf TV, video and website presenter/translator/interpreters for more than 15 years.
Her TV career includes stints as anchor presenter and on-screen BSL interpreter for Sign On: Newswatch (Channel 4, 1992-99); Deaf News and other reports on the BBC's See Hear! (2003-07); and presenter of the first ever report by a Deaf reporter in BSL on mainstream news (Channel 4 News, 1999).
She has talent-spotted, recruited and trained more than 40 Deaf TV presenters and on-screen interpreters. Renowned for her clear BSL presentation, Tessa has also taught BSL and trained Deaf BSL teachers and BSL/English interpreters at every level up to university post-graduate. She is currently a visiting lecturer in BSL at the University of Central Lancashire; and Knowledge Exchange Associate on the BSL:UPTAKE project at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.
