Remark! supports the Sequel to "Four Deaf Yorkshiremen"
A year ago Remark supported deaf filmmaker Charlie Swinbourne in making his directing debut, a ten minute sign language comedy called 'Four Deaf Yorkshiremen.'
The film, inspired by Monty Python's 'Four Yorkshiremen' sketch, featured a group of elderly deaf men in the pub, telling stories about growing up in a deaf family. The comedy was in the way they told the stories, with their expressive and dramatic signing building up visual images on screen.
Since then, the short film has been shown across the world and was a hit on You Tube, being seen an incredible 75,000 times. Having built up a following in the deaf world, Charlie wrote a sequel in the summer, which Remark again agreed to support with our production facilities and cameraman.
On Sunday 14th September, the same cast and crew got together again to film the sequel, titled 'Four Deaf Yorkshiremen and the Missing Wife,' in a house in Enfield, North London. For now, the footage is on tape, but soon it will be assembled into a 10-12 minute short film, aimed at being released in time for the Wolverhampton Deaffest film festival.
We'll give you more news on the new film in the next news. For now, you can still see the original film on You Tube by clicking here.
