Ready to ascend to new heights in British Sign Language (BSL)? Welcome to Remark's Pre-Level 6 course—an exhilarating journey towards advanced proficiency and cultural fluency! Crafted for learners advancing from Level 3 towards Level 6 competence, this course promises an immersive and enriching learning adventure.
Topics
The Pre-Level 6, Bridging the Gap course has been revamped to empower you to use and comprehend complex BSL in various social and professional settings. Teaching and summative assessment revolve around eight key topics:

Employment & Business
Media
Finance
Politics and Law
Society
Medicine
Science & Technology
You'll demonstrate receptive and productive skills across these topics through a range of interactions, from informal discussions to formal presentations and exams.
Methods
Candidates must exhibit both receptive and productive BSL skills at Level 3 proficiency across all eight topics. Assessments, both internal and external, may encompass any of the topics specified in the qualification. BSL naturally thrives in both two-way and one-way interactions, from conversations to monologues, and candidates are expected to demonstrate skills in both contexts.
Assessments
Assessment with the teacher will occur at the end of the course, with assessment and written feedback fees included in the course price.
Entry Requirements
Candidates must hold Signature/CACDP Level 3 in BSL and have at least six months' experience immersing themselves in a Deaf environment and attending Deaf events. A pre-course assessment will determine your eligibility for the course, including a 30-minute session with a Deaf tutor providing formal, constructive feedback. While a £15 fee applies for new students, Remark! Level 3 achievers undergo the assessment free of charge.
Students will be assessed to determine their ability to meet the required specifications for this course through a pre-course assessment. You will receive a 30-minute session with a Deaf tutor and formal, constructive feedback to help you progress and develop as a BSL user. As of 1st June 2021, the cost will be £15 for the assessment. Students who achieved their Level 3 with Remark! will still be required to undertake the assessment, but it will be provided free of charge. Please note the £15 fee for new students is non-refundable.
Progression Routes
Upon successful completion of this course, you'll be primed to pursue the Level 6 Certificate in British Sign Language. No entry assessment is necessary if you pass the end of Pre-Level 6 course with us.
